happiness and popular culture

In popular culture we have classified that there are two types of happiness, synthetic and natural. Synthetic happiness is when we make do with what we have to remind us that we can be happy with what we have in our lives already. Natural happiness is when we actually get what we wanted like on Christmas morning as a young child and having the biggest smile on your face.

Our society is hung up on the thought that popular culture items such as television or a super cool smartphone will some how be connected to our happiness. But in reality we really don't need any of those pop culture items to be happy when in my mind all you really need are the ones you love and time.

  1. I like your definitions of Synthetic happiness vs. Natural happiness. You are also right about our society being hung up on popular culture but, these items do make us happy in short periods of time. They also make it easy to communicate with our loved ones.
